The Democratic Party reacted after the final decision of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), forcing Albania to pay €110 million to Italian businessman Francesco Becchetti, following the “politically motivated” government closure of his Agon television channel in 2015. Former Democrat MP and candidate for the April 25 elections Jorida Tabaku said every Albanian must pay new 4,560 Albanian Lek only for the fault and mismanagement of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
“Albania will finally pay 110 million euros to Italian entrepreneur Francesco Becchetti, as a result of the forced closure of ‘Agon Channel’ television. This is money that comes directly from the pockets of citizens only because of the arrogance and arbitrariness of a single man, Edi Rama.
This is just one of the bills that Albania and Albanians have to pay for the fault of this man who does not know any rules and refuses to implement them and who treats the country as his personal fief.
Edi Rama must leave, because every day he is more in power is a cost for the country and every citizen and family”, Tabaku said on behalf of the Democratic Party.
