The socialist majority once again defended their colleague, Olta Xhaçka, by rejecting a motion submitted by 1/10 of the Albanian Assembly's deputies to send the issue of her mandate incompatibility to the Constitutional Court.

According to A2, 25 Democratic deputies voted in favor of the motion, while 9 Socialists voted against. An additional 65 abstained, preventing the draft decision from receiving the necessary votes for approval.

Elisa Spiropali attempted to justify the majority's actions, stating that Parliament had followed the constitutional procedure. She added that they would seek a legal opinion from the Venice Commission, a move the Socialists had signaled months earlier.

With this vote, the Assembly has, for the second time, refused to implement the Constitutional Court's decision, which had twice emphasized that Parliament is obliged to approve the motion submitted by 1/10 of the deputies.

The Socialists who voted against the motion were Damian Gjiknuri, Bledar Çuçi, Jyrgis Çyrbja, Anduel Tahiraj, Paulin Sterkaj, Petro Koçi, Shkelqim Bullari, Bujar Çela, and Klodiana Spahiu.

Olta Xhaçka was present during the vote but did not participate.
