Albanian President Ilir Meta was asked by the Constitutional Court about some declarations he made concerning several diplomatic representatives, calling them corrupt. Meta was asked also about physical threats against him.

In his response, the President said he has refused categorically every interference or public position by certain diplomats which either directly or indirectly have supported the violations and violators of the Constitution. President Meta said he was never shown any official concern by any international partner for his behavior or actions.

“The President of the Republic, continuously and in particular during the electoral period, has had and has excellent communication with the diplomatic missions and international institutions. The communication is built upon full respect of the Constitution, the Law, Sovereignty, and reciprocity”, President Meta said in his response.

“The President of the Republic has refused with determination any interference or public positioning that either directly or indirectly have supported the violations and violators of the Constitution, the unilateral violation of the agreement of June 5, 2020, the violations of the law, the protection of persons under investigation, and the violators of the integrity of the independent institutions (the Dvorani case, but not only”.

“The President has refused with determination any interference from certain actors of the diplomatic corps that have acted in open violation of their diplomatic status and the Convention of Vienna, daring to dictate to the President of the Republic how to issue his Constitutional acts, by violating the Constitution and degrading the process of appointments in the Constitutional Court, which led to the capture (by the government) of the Constitutional Capture and not only”, responded President Meta.
